The Gas Mask is an item present in 60 Seconds! and 60 Seconds! Reatomized

General Informations[]

The Gas Mask is used for protection against the radioactive fallout whenever the player exits the shelter via an expedition or certain events.

Before the "What's in the Suitcase?" DLC, the gas mask was used passively when the player sends a character on an expedition; however, the game now asks a player to take an item outside when starting an expedition, and the gas mask is an absolute must before the radio informs the player that the fallout outside is mostly gone. If the player goes outside without a gas mask before this message is received, the character has a far higher chance of getting Sick or not returning from the expedition.

Sometimes it is used in events to get supplies. It is also one of the items required for a military event. If the gas mask is damaged, it can be repaired with the Boy Scout Handbook.

If the Gas Mask is taken for an expedition, the sent character will not come back sick because of the radiation.

Events[]

List of some events where the Gas Mask is useful and can be used as Item.

10 On The Richter Scale!:[]

1. What is that? It seems like a distant rumble, but it's getting louder... and why is everything shaking? Oh god, it's a quake! Grab something and hold on!

2. Peculiar... it seems that the whole shelter has been shaking every couples of minutes, and it feels like it's getting stronger every time this happens. Here it comes again... and it's way worse! It's an earthquake! Hold on to something!

Gas Mask ; Radio ; Flashlight Event - 10 On The Richter Scale!

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • ??? -Flashlight -Radio
  • Everyone ok? Let's hope so... We need to make a proper inspection. That was one nasty earthquake. We never used to get such a bad ones before! It's all because of the atoms. Definitely the atoms. NO ONE should mess with the atoms. NO. ONE. -Flashlight -Radio

Assisted The Army:[]

(If the Radio is in the shelter + If the event "Signalled The Army/Let The Army A Message/Cards Trick" has been done before):

1. We received another radio broadcast from the military. Apparently, they wouldn't be arriving when we expected, but they suggested they won't be long. However, survivors were requested to render assistance by bringing gas canisters to the nearest bus stop for the military vehicle s to use. We supposed wer could do it, but not without a gas mask. Who know how long it will take and we don't want to get ill in the process.

2. Soliders send out another radio message requesting all the survivours in the area remain patient and await further instructions. Sounds like the extraction isn't coming as soon as we hoped it would. Additionally, the officier from the broadcast request that all survivors who are able to bring some gas canisters at the nearest bus stop should do it as soon as possible. That might take a while, so the only sane idea is to wear a gas mask.

3. It's the army again! We thought they were near, but it's seems something kept them away. Guess we're not leaving just yet. Their broadcast was concluded with a request for assistance. They want us to take a few canisters of gas to the nearest bus stop. Apparently, they need it for their transport. This is not something we can do very quickly, so we need a gas mask to stay safe. There is no need to get sick right before we get rescued.

Help the Military- With Gas Mask

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • All set! The canisters are in place and we're safetly back home. Well... if you can call it that. And hopefully for not too long. We will see what the next few days will bring. +Military ending continues

Bad Smell:[]

1. The problem is simple. If we don't wash ourselves, we'll get sick. Seriously sick. It smells really bad down here and doesn't seem like it'll get any better over the next couple of days. How about we do something to fix it?

2. Its been a while since we showered. The smell in this tiny shelter is as far from rose as it can get. We had thought of washing ourselves... too bad we didn't grab any soap along the way, but maybe we can do with something else?

Ammo ; Gas Mask ; Bug Spray Event - Bad Smell(Complete)

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • What doesn't kill you make you stronger. If we can survive just a little bit longer, dirty ears shouldn't be much of a problem, just to be sure... dibs on the gas mask! +Cure everyone's sickness

Plumbing Action:[]

1. Whoever designed this fallout shelter was a genius, but we can't really tell if that green stuff dipping from the pipe is an inclued feature. We should probably try doing something about it with whatever we brought down here.

2. Where did that green puddle come from? Oh dear, a pipe is leaking green goo! That's not good. That's not good at all. We need to act now and no one packed a mop! What do we do?!

Mary Jane Mutation Events- Plumbing Action

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • Ha, problem solved! No leak, no mess! Back to our tidy little shelter.

Reinforce The Vehicle:[]

(If "Mysterious vehicle down the street" event has been done in a previous game + If enough expedition has been done) During our last expeditions, we finally approached that nearby vehicle. It was an ice cream truck/a tank, missing wheels and a few other crucial components. The outside was rusty and a little burnt up. If we hope to ever drive away from here, we sould scavenge for something to reinforce it. Anything we should grab for this little supply run?

1

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • The gas mask proved useful while exploring a very stinky werehouse nearby. We found some sheet metal next to some cartons filled with milk and rotten eggs. The sheets were install as armor on our post-apocalyptic vehicle. Unfortunately, the mask's filter was totaly used up. -Gas Mask +Add Sheet Metal on the vehicle

Supply Drop:[]

(If the Radio is in the shelter) We heard something about a supply drop on the radio. This might be just what we need to survive, and it's supposed happen near our house! Shall we go out and find out if it's really happening.

Radio Event - Supply Drop

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • The air drop crate we found wasn't exactly huge, but it contained a few supplies that will definitely help us. We were especially happy to find some water bottles and food cans. For a minute, we thought it was canned meat, but then we find out it was tomato soup. Our theory is that this whole country used to run on tomatoes and no one suspected a thing! +2 Water +2 Soup
    • (Sometimes) We went to get the supplies and our gas mask got a bit damaged. Note taken - don't stand under a supply drop crate when it's falling out of the sky! -Gas Mask

Thug Attack! (Shelter Alone Event):[]

These bandits will surely get in if we don't figure out a way to stop them. There is a half broken wall around the trap door leading to the shelter. If something heavy was to drop from there, it might be enough to knock out an invader or two. How will we proceed?

Suitcase ; Gas Mask Event - Thug Attack!

Use Gas Mask:[]

  • That "trap" did nothing to stop the bandits... Maybe a different item could have done the trick here. -Gas Mask
    1. (If all others "traps" have worked) Fortunately, it sounded like these thugs lost their flashlight and couldn't find the bunker door in the dark of night. They circled the perimeter for some time, shouting about "being scammed by kindergarteners" before remembering that one of them is scared of the dark and giving up. Next time we might not be so lucky.
    2. (If at least 1 "trap" haven't worked) We didn't managed to protect our home. What will Ted, Dolores and Mary Jane say when they return? Oh, no... (Game Over)

Events Where The Gas Mask Can Be Found[]

Great Expectations:[]

Yesterday during charades we learned that May Jane doesn't know how to spell "antidisestablishmentarianism" an it has left Dolores sorely disappointed. She insist on home... or rather shelter-schooling Mary Jane a little.

Dolores And Mary Jane's Events- Great Expectations

Say Yes:[]

  • Dolores does not mess around - what started out as a spelling exercise has quickly found its way to a math revision, followed by a short physics course and ending on tinkering with some random objects in the shelter. Mary Jane looks exhausted, but we can't deny the state of our shelter has improved today. +Increases Dolores and Mary Jane's sanity +Can repair a broken item(Like the Gas Mask)(Exept the Radio) +Mary Jane gets tired

Tank Boy:[]

1. The last time we went on an expediton, we noticed an abandoned tank just sitting there out in the open. It lokks damaged, but may it contain useful supplies. Shall we send someone to investigate?

2. We could use some extra supplies. The last time we went on a supply run we noticed a damaged tank stuck in the rubbles nearby. How about we send someone to investigate?

Made contact with Military- With Abandoned Tank

Send Someone:[]

  1. The tank might've bee badly damaged on the outside, but we found a working radio inside and make contact with the military! They are willing to lend us a hand, but we need to have an operational radio ready for their transmission in our shelter. +Military ending begins +Radio(Sometimes)
  2. Looks like army rations also consist mostly of canned tomato soup and bottled water. Unless someone else left these supplies in the wrecked tank. +1 Soup +1 Water
  3. The tank was equipped with protective gear, including a spare gas mask. Now it's ours. +Gas Mask
  4. An extra bit of firepower never hurts. We were more than happy to inherit a military issue rifle from the tank. +Rifle
  5. All we could find inside the shell of the wrecked tank were some loose rounds of ammunition. We picked them all up. +Ammunition
  6. ??? (Ted/Dolores/Mary Jane/Timmy died)

The Neighbours Downstairs:[]

1. What's that sound? Oh no! Something, or someone, is below us! It's only reasonable to go and check it out. How about using that manhole in the corner?

2. Far an isolated fallout shelter we sure have a lot of disturbances. Something has been making a lot of noise since dawn and we couldn't sleep! It seems to be coming from under the floor... and coincidentally, we just found a manhole that we could us to go down and check what's going on.

3. Hear that? Noises, coming from below! This is probably the right time to check out the manhole in the corner, that one that's been locked tight ever since we got to the shelter...

Axe ; Flashlight Event - The Neighbours Dowstairs

Use Axe:[]

  1. Whatever lived down there making all that noise, probably fled when we jumped down waving our axe around and shouthing warrior chants. Our warrior chants sounded like jingles from the radio ads, but that's probably made them even more terrifying. The only thing lieft in the secret room was a gas mask. It smells a bit funny, but it works. +Gas Mask
  2. Who would've guessed we had a secret wine cellar under our house! Thanks to our trusty flashlight, we were able to hunt down some remaining bottles. The contents tasted more like water than wine, but as long as it's liquid,we're happy! +2 Water
  3. We found treasure down there! Pills, bottles and other medical supplies were stacked on a few shelves down in a narrow room. Just enough to stocked our first aid kit. Good for us? We didn't find the source of the noise. +Medkit
  4. Amazing! We had a pirate cave right under our house! It was filled with treasure of sorts... too bad we only had the time to grab a map before the place collapsed. Luckily, it didn't have any impact on our shelter. +Map
  5. We went down with our hearts in our throats, but nothing happened. We found the tiny passage blocked. The noises were gone after a while. Hopefully it will stay that way.
  6. What the hell! We barely made it out alive! It was a giant, mutated crocodile! Or an alligator! Ot something else with a giant mounth and plenty of teeth! Is anyone hurt? +Someone gets hurt

Destruction By Insanity:[]

What Ted did today was really absurd. During dinner, he suddenly jumped out of his seat, and started boxing the gas mask hanging the wall! He appeard to trade insults, as well as blows with the inanimate object. Apparently, he had mistaken the mask for a blood-thirsty stranger, intent on stealing our cans. Although we were really impressed with his right hook, and his eagerness to defend our family, violence is not really his style. Also, the mask is completely destroyed. Ted really showed him who's boss. -Gas Mask

Gas Mask In Expedition[]

Expedition Equipement - Suitcase ; Radio ; Gas Mask ; Harmonica

As said upper, the Gas Mask will help the sent character to better resist radiation:

Outside Condition (Radiation):[]

  • The contamination of our town is still strong. Scavenging in these conditions may result in radiation sickness.
  • Our neighborhood is still highly radioactive. Trips to the surface are a big risk right now.
  • It looks like the area is still irradiated. Going to the wasteland right now is unsafe, unless you don't mind getting sick.

The Gas Mask can also be damaged during the expedition:

  • Damn it, our gas mask was damaged during the expedition. -Gas Mask

"Gas Mask Find" In Expedition[]

All "Expedition Locations" where the Gas Mask can be found.

Ethan's House:[]

  • Our freind had a big, nicely furnished bedroom with an antique, wooden closet. They must have been big fans of costum parties - the closet contained a ton of differents outfits and props! • Oh the irony! Or maybe a paradox? Or maybe neither? A gas mask is lying in a pile of stinky garbage. +Gas Mask

With Ammo:[]

  • While scouting the area, we noticed a young girl cornered by a giant scorpion. It turned out those things are real! When she saw us, she frantically waved a rifle above her head. We figured she might be short on ammunition, so we tossed her some. She managed to fight off the vile beast and was grateful enough to offer us a gasmask for our trouble. +Gas Mask

Trivia[]

  • Curiously, the gas mask is much more flexible once it enters the shelter, as when it's on a hook at the house, it retains its shape, but when it enters the shelter, it seems to sag downward on its hook.
  • In 60 Parsecs!, if the player uses the mask on the party event, the player will argue with a mysterious "Timmy" and break the gas mask.
  • In one of his insane events, Ted boxes the Gas Mask, uses a right hook and destroys it.
  • Ted can destroy the gas mask if, in the sleeping event with the light switches, you do not select an item. Timmy will then attempt to put a gas mask on Ted's head, and Ted will panic, ripping apart the gas mask.
